Weekend storm may have major consequences

Possible Scenario:

An area of low pressure (now off of the Pacific Northwest) will work across the Rockies during the day on Thursday. For Friday, the storm will begin pulling up moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Severe thunderstorms will be possible from Oklahoma City down to Abilene, Texas. The low pressure will move over Kansas City Friday night as our precipitation begins. The type of precipitation we have will be complicated. It appears we'll start with a mix of sleet and snow late Friday night. We'll switch to rain after a period of freezing rain Saturday afternoon. ***There could be some ice accumulations before this happens.*** Rain with a few thunderstorms for Saturday evening before we cool back down and see snow for Sunday morning and afternoon. A few inches are possible within the viewing area.

This is how it looks right now. I caution you however, that we WILL be fine-tuning this as Thursday rolls along. We have to keep in mind that this storm hasn't even made it onto the Pacific coast yet! Our computer models aren't getting major data-feeds because most of this storm lies over the ocean waters. Once the system moves in tomorrow, the computer models will increase their accuracy greatly.

Stay tuned!
