It's been nearly eight years since I graduated from NIU, and even longer since I have been able to see my good friends from college, Becky and Rich Gocken. They moved to Carbondale and SIU back in 1996 and it seems that all of our busy lives caused us to grow far apart...especially since I spent five years working in Texas TV.Last weekend, we got together for lunch (Rich Gocken's parents live in Stillman Valley). We had a great time remembering all of the fun we had in college. Becky reminded me that I used to put a weather forecast on my dorm room's door every day...and she admitted that she used to check that every morning! Man, was I such a nerd! :-) (Many people would still agree to that today!)
Moral of the story? Good friends are hard to come by. Best friends stick with you for years. -ERIC
