Planning Your Wednesday
Any way you slice it, road conditions will be treacherous today. This storm system is going to move almost directly overhead. This type of instability will allow the snow showers to continue to redevelop all day long. If you are trying to hold off on your travel plans, don't hold your breath. We likely won't get much of a break at all today. Visibilities will fluctuate between 1 to 2 miles today due to east winds between 15-25 miles per hour causing it to snow sideways. -ADAM

Just drove E. on Hy 14 from Janesville (Rock Co) to Delavan (Walworth Co.).
In addition to the blowing snow, which reduces visibility quite a bit, there was also a considerable amount of patchy fog. In the areas without fog the only thing limiting visibility was the blowing snow. But in the areas with fog the visibility was close to zero.
DRIVERS, TURN ON YOUR HEADLIGHTS.
I saw several near-accidents when vehicles were trying to pass a slower-moving vehicle and didn't realize there was an on-coming car because the on-coming car did not have its headlights on. YIKES!
dosn't look like were going to get much snow here in belvidere it needs to get snowing if we are going to get 8 inches are you guys backing down the snow amounts as usual?
I don't think they said Belvidere was going to get 8 inches of snow.
wheres the updates?
where is all this snow? you guys been talking about all week ? same old story all winter long 8-10inches possible 3-5 inches possible 2-4inches possible 1-3inches possible then the sleet pellet story burned up all the snow making starts out big get everybody worked up i had to put plows on move equiptment around to lots that are not even snow covered. the ground is to warm.NOW the weather radio says maybe another inch possible thru tommrow come on guys????????????????????
I don't know what station you were watching, but we forecasted 3-6 inches of snow for the Rockford metro with higher amounts to the north.
We're now receiving 5-6 inch reports in Northern Jo Daviess and Stephenson Counties.
I had 3.5" at my house on the NW side of Rockford.
I don't remember saying anything about 8 inches...in fact the forecast we showed on the air is right here on our blog!

If you want some snow I have some extra you can come get. Its in my driveway. Yours for the taking, free, you haul it.
Come on people chill out. I just got home shortly after 4pm and only had 2 inches, but I am thinking I may have had more, but some of it probably melted while I was at work and wasn't home to measure it right after the snow let up. I'm thinking I probably had about 3-4 inches. But I will never know. Eric and the rest of the weather team, ignore this anonymous posters who are taking cheap shots at you, you all do the best out of anyone.
I absolutley agree with the last writer...Eric, Candace & Adam..you 3 are great meteorologists..keep up the good work! (Dixon, Il.)
My grass isnt even covered, and I just mowed it 2 days ago. Stephenson county got 6 inches in some spots, where I got maybe 2 on the south side of Rockford. So you people need to stop complaining... there were lots of big differences in the snowfall totals. It happens. Would you rather have 3 inches forcasted and then get 14? You would be complaining even more.
