Candice King and I have been working hard on not only trying to forecast the precipitation type but timing the whole event. Using a graph, we've come up with our best-guess for this event for the Rockford metro.
We will have equal chances of rain and snow at 7pm tonight with a gradual turnover to snow around midnight, or shortly thereafter. High probabilities of snow will take us straight through this event with chances of mixed and liquid precipitation being lowest at noon tomorrow. This system should be wrapping up by 7pm Wednesday when as much as six inches of snow could fall in the metro.
