Hurricane Season begins on Friday. With that in mind, I decided to take a closer look at what geographic locations are most susceptible to a landfalling hurricane. According to a National Hurricane Center report, the highest chance of a hurricane landfall is in South Florida. Miami, Florida for instance can expect a hurricane landfall once every four years. Houston, Texas can expect a hurricane once every nine years. New York City can expect a hurricane once every 17 years. The red arrow indicates the most popular track tropical systems take.

So, if you're looking for some ocean-front land to buy, I'd probably pick Savannah, Georgia or the coast of Delaware. (Come to think of it, when was the last time you heard of a hurricane hitting Delaware?) -ERIC

i can't believe there is not more information on you site, considering there are 2 tornado warnings out...

Justin: Thanks for that! I forgot a "4".

Anonymous: When we get our first Tornado Warnings, I've got a lot to do. Getting the information right, getting on TV, then getting on the radio. When I am not on there, I'm blogging...it just takes a few minutes. The priority of our weather blog is increasing every day...but there simply was too much work for me here all at one time.

Hope that helps! -ERIC

Anonmymous: Give the weather department a break. You shouldn't only be relying on the blog to get your weather informtation. Things I'm sure are very busy for them during severe weather...and like Eric said, there are other "top" priorities before the blog.
