Why Are We Dry?

We have not seen any rain in the rain gauge all week long. Here is the main reason why: a large ridge of high pressure has set up across the Midwest. This ridge diverts most of the energy in the atmosphere well to the north of us. When storms form they follow the jet stream. Therefore, most of the thunderstorms this week have been riding the ridge from Texas and Oklahoma up and over Minnesota and Wisconsin.

This ridge will drift to the east by the beginning of the next work week. The ridge will stay in place over the southeastern corner of the country, keeping their dangerous drought situation going. By Tuesday the storm track, or jet stream, will slide directly over the Mississippi River allowing a few rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning to enter the Stateline. -ADAM

No rain?!?!?!

How odd that 250 miles south of you construction has started on the Arc. Haven't seen the sun in 5 days and everything is waterlogged. Ugh. Gotta love St. Louis weather!
