The entire eastern half of Iowa is under a tornado watch until 10pm tonight. As of 1pm this watch does not include any counties in our viewing area. Any supercells that form in eastern Iowa this afternoon will quickly race off to the northeast and should not affect us.
Right now we have a very strong cap in place. This cap is a layer a very warm air aloft that is prohibiting thunderstorm develop across the Stateline at this time. This cap will weaken this evening as the cold front approaches, which will create significant instability in the atmosphere. Right now we are just on the wait and see approach. -ADAM
