Still Hanging On

One of the things that I like to look at with storms is water vapor. It is very good at showing where upper level features are. One thing that has been dominating our weather the past few days has been an upper level low that has been VERY slow to move. Currently, the low sits north in central and southern Wisconsin. Temperatures in the low are cold...otherwise known as a "Cold Core Low". This low combined with the little sunshine we had this afternoon has aided in the popcorn type showers and storms we saw this afternoon. Earlier today DeKalb had a storm that moved through that dumped over an inch of rain. Parts of Rockford...mainly on the east side....saw a decent amount of rain. While here at the station we saw very little.

With the low still pretty much over head on Monday, much of the same can be expected before it finally moves off to the east and combines with what's left of Tropical Depression Barry.

Our next big weather maker will come Wednesday night into Thursday where another chance for storms will be possible.
