Sunday Storm Outlook

A late-morning thunderstorm brought pea-sized hail to Rockford's north side and 3/4" hail to DeKalb County prompting a Severe Thunderstorm Warning earlier.

We're watching the radars closely, but it appears much of the early afternoon will be dry. The atmospheric environment will be conducive for thunderstorm development during the afternoon and evening as a cold front sits right over the area. A few storms may be severe this afternoon with large hail and gusty winds the main threats. Meteorologist Candice King will be in the weather center monitoring the radars.
