Weather watch may be issued for the area this afternoon

Moist air continues to move into the region late this morning. The cluster of weakening showers and thunderstorms that affected our area this morning is heading into Central Illinois along a (cool front) outflow boundary. An additional boundary (the main front) off to the north is expected to kick off convection late this morning or early afternoon. Storms that do maintain strength this afternoon will have the capability of producing large hail and torrential rainfall. Storms that continue into tonight will have a threat of bringing damaging straight-line winds to the area. The tornado threat will remain extremely low as low and mid-level shear remains very limited.

13News will have complete coverage of any severe weather on the air, on the radio, and on our exclusive weather blog. Please help us with the word of mouth...and if you're not familiar with what we do during severe weather, go to the very bottom of the right column of this page, click on "June" then scroll down to the June 7th event. There you'll be able to see the storm information we're able to give in real-time. -ERIC
