Active out west!

Here's a look at the midday visible satellite picture. What's interesting on this (other than some cool outflow clouds over eastern Missouri) is the fact that the storms out in eastern Iowa continue to "train" over the same area. New storms forming in far southeastern SD will likely continue riding the train tracks into eastern Iowa by evening. The storm-route may shift a bit eastward with time so we're not out of the woods completely. However, the longer we go this afternoon with blow-off clouds overhead, the more stable our atmosphere will remain. -ERIC

It looks like the storms are to our west and we will not see them anytime soon. On wifr they said that the heavy storms could come at around 1:00pm in our area but it it sunny here now. When do you think the storms will move into our area? -thanks-

See? There's the proof you shouldn't watch the wiffer. Storms have been hugging the Miss River counties...heavy storms will be likely in our metro late evening 8pm-2am. -ERIC
