We just got a little 30 secong burst of rain here in DeKalb. Do you think this will be like our storm last week with the flooding? When will it pass?

You're going to get a lot of rain in DeKalb. 2-3 inches perhaps. -ERIC

well that cell that just came thru winnebago county, in 5 minutes here in loves park (behind forest hills country club)between 11:42 and 11:47 opm, .50 inches of rain. wow. looks like rockford is getting missed with the rain again other than that. what are the odds of us getting more torrential rain here in loves park and rockford. looks like the storms are training just to the southwest of us.

The lightening show is absolutely amazing tonight. Unfortunately I am in the Roscoe area and have been sitting on my deck for the last hour and have only gotten sprinkled on. Perhaps 3 drops I counted. Is the threat for the Rockford are decreasing for the evening and is there still a chance for some more active weather tomorrow?

Thunderstorms continue to train over the same areas. Doppler estimated precipitation totals show the heaviest rain stretching from a Dubuque to Galena to Mount Carroll to Dixon line. These areas have seen between 2 and 4 inches of rain. The Rockford area continues to be on the fringes of the heavy rainfall. Winnebago County will still get wet periodically periodically through sunrise, but the heaviest rain will continue to fall to the south and west.

Wednesday afternoon and night could be another busy time period. That's why I sent Eric home. Hopefully he is in the REM sleep already.

Do you think that the track will shift today to include Rockford more? Just wondering if we might see some action out of these tonight.

Eric Sorensen said...

The track could very easily move farther northward. You have to remember that Rockford was approximately 30 miles away from flash flooding conditions last night. On the atmospheric scale, 30 miles is nothing.
