Looks the Same, but Feels Different

On the 4th of July we hit a high temperature of 87 degrees. Today's high will be near 86 degrees, with a high fairly similar on Friday. At first glance, you would think the weather will feel exactly the same, but that will not be the case.

Remember that the dew point is a measure of the amount of moisture in the atmosphere. A closer inspection reveals that dew points were in the upper 60s yesterday. That is why it felt so muggy on Independence Day. Dew points are falling as I type and should drop into the upper 50s by this afternoon. That will make today's high in the mid-80s seem much more comfortable. -ADAM
