Anytime our dew points rise above 60° we start to get that muggy feeling. The past three days have been extremely enjoyable with no humidity to speak of, but that is about to change. As of 11am Tuesday morning the dew point in Rockford is 60° exactly. The amount of moisture in the atmosphere is only expected to go up from here.
Dew points above 65° are considered tropical, while anytime you see readings above 70° that is considered oppressive. The oppressive conditions today are lying in the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Nebraska. We will see a slow climb over the next 48 hours. I do not expect our dew points to rise above 70°, but by Thursday we will have to whip out the phrase "air you can wear" once again. -ADAM
