Flash Flooding Potential
A Flash Flood Watch will be running tonight through mid morning Thursday for the entire Stateline viewing area. The first reason this has been issued is because the ground cannot take much more rainfall. The second reason is that another large batch of showers and storms are set to rumble through the Stateline later tonight. From these thunderstorms you can expect to see frequent lightning strikes and heavy downpours. The general trend for rainfall totals should lie somewhere between one and three inches. Heavier totals are likely over southern Wisconsin, with lighter rainfall totals the closer you live to I-88. If you live in a flood prone area you should be on high alert tonight. -ADAM

Is the ground saturated enough to make tonight as bad as tuesday (if we see around 2-3 inches)
The ground between Freeport and Belvidere is certainly still saturated enough to cause flash flooding. 36 hours is definitely not enough time to soak up 4 to 7 inches of rain.

Certainly understand peoples concerns on the Kishwaukee River. We also have concerns on the Rock River. The level is raising on the Rock River and many campers are losing there docks. Not as important as one's home,But still a concern. Could you please state the level of the Rock River. Thank You. Judy
Judy, there is no flood warning for the Rock River at this time as levels are below "flood stage." I will look into it further and post the level if it becomes a problem tonight. Here is the report from the NWS of the Kish:
...FLOOD WARNING EXTENDED UNTIL THURSDAY MORNING...
THE FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR
THE KISHWAUKEE RIVER NEAR PERRYVILLE.
* UNTIL THURSDAY MORNING ...OR UNTIL THE WARNING IS CANCELLED.
* AT 730 AM WEDNESDAY THE STAGE WAS 13.4 FEET.
* MINOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND MINOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 12.0 FEET.
* FORECAST...THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE TO FALL TO BELOW FLOOD STAGE BY
EARLY THURSDAY.

Looks like lightning is getting more frequent in iowa
I was watching the news at 9 on CW and well without a weather person again tonight lol..Poor Adam, at least Eric will be back tomorrow..I won't be up for the 10pm news so i'm stuck watching fox news at 9...
Looks like we'll be spared again.. as long as the front doesn't move... this was Chicago's discussion as of 9:08 pm.
WITH FRONT STILL HUNG UP OVER DOWNSTATE ILLINOIS AND AXIS OF
GREATEST INSTABILITY ALSO STRETCHING ACROSS CENTRAL ILLINOIS...IT
WOULD SEEM TO REASON THAT THE MOST WELL DEVELOPED MCS WOULD ALSO
TRACK FARTHER SOUTH THAN PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT. IT NOW APPEARS AS
THOUGH THE AXIS OF HEAVIEST RAINFALL WILL BE SOUTH OF I-88/I-290 OR
MAYBE EVEN SOUTH OF I-80...WHICH WOULD SPARE THE STILL WATER LOGGED
ROCKFORD AND NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS.
I was watching fox news at 9 and they are not to sure. They think we could get about 4 inches but its kindof hard to tell. Depending on how the storm wants to move. Oh well i think every station has a different report lol..I always try to stick with wrex because they always seem to be more accurate. I guess its just more of seeing what happens. Only mother nature will let us know unfornuately. If you do look at radars though it looks like we could be right in the middle of it.
Maybe if the weather person on Fox news at nine was an actual meteorologist...
i just read that too, but it is 1130 and u never knwo what might happen.
looks like we did get spared the last couple nights with heaviest going south of us. i know where i live here in loves park, our street wont flood because i am on a hill. so flooding isnt an issue where i am at.
