Heavy rainfall anticipated tonight and Sunday

The National Weather Service offices in Milwaukee and Chicago have issued Flash Flood Watches for Sunday. Our 13Microcast computer model indicates the potential for up to three inches of rainfall along the US Highway 20 corridor. Be on the lookout for bouts of torrential rainfall...especially for those areas that were affected by our recent floods! Here's a live view of 13Skywatch Doppler Radar. -ERIC

Just curious but what is microcast based on?

It is a computer model developed by Weather Central that we run twice a day here in the Weather Center. -ERIC

I'd have to say it is pretty crazy that the current temp is 60 at 530p on a day in august. With the east wind it makes it almost chilly out!

What ended up being our 'official' high temp today? I'm sure it was very early this morning.

Official high in Rockford? 68 degrees. (Refer to blog entry from Wednesday...watch where you get your forecast?)

It was 58 when I came into work around 2pm! That's pretty amazing! -ERIC

I MISS THE DEW POINT!!!!
Why don't you give the dew point much anymore?
I use the dew point to know when to open the windows to let in air that is cooler than what it is in my house, [AC] inop. no money to fix, [I LIVE ON A FIXED INCOME]

You do not give the dew point much if at all anymore and neither do the other two channels in Rockford, [Did you guys get together and decide the dew don't count any more?]

Eric there was no mention of dew point tonight 8/18/07 on the 1800 news cast.

The dew point tells me more than the "RELATIVE" humidity, it just relative.
Thanks Eric

Gene: I, too, love the dewpoint maps! It's always on our skycam currents page during the main weather segment. We had a technical glitch that prevented us from showing it at six...but if it's important to you, we'll continue to show it!

Thanks!

How much longer should this stay north?

I'm really sad, is summer over? Will we have 10 months of winter this year as compared to the normal 8? :) I'm from Missouri so I'm used to it being really really hot still.
