Poll Question #2

Last week we asked "Who is to blame for the flooding in Rockford last week?"
Here's how you answered:

2% of you said Forecasters; they didn't give enough warning
21% of you said City Administration; they should have done everything to prevent it
25% of you said City Engineers; for not designing better waterways
50% of you said No one; it was going to happen anyway

Thank you to all who voted. I admit, I am quite surprised at the results. Half of you believe it was going to happen while another half point some sort of blame.

I am a firm believer that the community should come together to clean our waterways. I am also concerned that the entire streamflow of Keith Creek has to go under a massive culvert near Rockford Plaza. When the streamflow reaches the top of the culvert, the water has no where to go but over onto Charles Street (and back up into the Logli's parking lot). The best thing that could happen here is shoring up Alpine Dam quickly...and coming together as a community to keep our waterways clear of debris. Perhaps it's too little/too late for flood #2, but we can prevent flood #3 from being as disastrous. -ERIC

I'm curious as to how people can blame the meteorologists for the flood, even if they knew earlier that the rain would fall that fast for that long of time, there is still no way that they could have prevented the flood.

I voted city administration. They knew these problems were there, but they didnt think a flood like labor day would happen again. You could have 2 floods of this size in a week, how do they know? They should have been safe and went ahead with the repairs and saved everyone millions of dollars and lots of time.
