I used the visible satellite image in the top left as our "What Exactly Is This?" weather quiz picture this morning. I was focusing in on the white objects showing up over portions of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. At first glance you might think it was some type of cloud cover, but it is actually plumes of smoke from forest fires that continue to rage in that part of the country. I got the other photos sent to me from a friend in Missoula, Montana. They said that the smoke is terrible in the valley and that children and the elderly are not advised to stay outside for an extended period of time.
Remember this when we have rainy and cloudy conditions this weekend... our weather could always be worse. -ADAM
