Record high temperature tied today

Temperatures surged to 92° on the nose of gusty southwest winds. That 92° ties an 87 year old record! 90s are very rare in the autumn months. In fact, before today, it had only happened 21 times.

What do you think about this steamy weather? Take it or leave it?

Hey! I was wondering...

Whenever I've seen the 'year' of a record high, I have never seen two years listed, if there was a tie for that particular day.

So that leads me to my question.

In the record book, does the current tied high temp get put in and the old one bumped? Or, are they both (or more!) there and you just display on screen the most recent year it tied.

Just wondering. Hope it made sense.

btw, it was definately steamy today. But, like i told everyone at work today, most of us would rather have this weather then what we will get in eight weeks!

Jim: Great question! From now (until it's tied or broken again), the record high for September 24th in Rockford will read 92 degrees.

And I'm with everyone here...sure beats the cold, snowy days we'll have in January and February! Let's make a mental note of this day...so we'll have something to look back on when it's -15°. -ERIC

I'll definitely leave it thank you very much. Some of us want the fall/winter months to feel like they usually do! :(

So, yes its 92 degrees, but what year will be in the record books? LOL sorry. :)

Today's RFD climate summary says 92R meaning the 92 today is the new record high. -ERIC

Please get rid of the humidity --yuck! And the mosquitos while you're at it --a nice hard frost would do nicely :-)
