Meteorologists with the Chicago forecast office are still concerned about possible storm development this afternoon. They said that "while we can't totally take the threat away, Winnebago, Ogle, and Lee Counties are probably too far west." They believe that far Eastern Illinois from Champaign up to South Bend is the most likely spot for severe weather to develop. Also mentioned is the possibility that we could slide right into nightfall without a single storm!
Having said that, the Storm Prediction Center put out an update for possible severe weather for Northern Illinois and Eastern Wisconsin...an area being monitored for a possible weather watch.As of 1:25pm CDT, there are no thunderstorms anywhere near the Rockford area. However, our atmosphere is very unstable and storms could rapidly develop within just ten minutes or so.

The fact that you were the only station on that conference call just confirms for me the fact that WREX is the ONE and ONLY station to listen to for weather or any other news. Thank you all..really appreciate all that you do to keep us informed.
Just wanted to let you know that here in Stockton, we received 1 3/4" of rain last evening. Lots of lightning and extreme high winds. We live on the golf course and the course is very flooded. The sand traps look like ponds. The creeks are very high and in the low areas on the course water is standing.
