Transition Time
The summer-like conditions will stick around this afternoon, but after that our weather pattern will be flip-flopping in a major way. With the heat and humidity in place today we will stand a decent chance of seeing a few showers and storms this afternoon. For those that like percentages, I would call for a 40% chance of rain this afternoon with those chances dropping significantly after sunset. It is not an overwhelming chance, because this storm system is weakening as it approaches us. Rainfall totals this afternoon will hover around a tenth of an inch for most locations.
The jet stream will plunge southward by the middle of the work week and this will allow autumn to settle into the region once more. The area of low pressure from this storm system looks like it will stall out just east of Michigan. This will cause some wrap around cloud cover for Tuesday and Wednesday. Notice that I dropped the rainfall chances significantly after today, but I left it at about a 15%-20% chance because I wouldn't be surprised if a few sprinkles were embedded in that cloud cover. Needless to say, rainfall amounts over the next 7 days will be quite low and lawn mowers might need to be run only once or twice more before the season is over. -ADAM
