Flood Warning

The flood warning remains in effect until Tuesday morning at 9:30 for Central Rock County.

River flooding continues in Beloit township due to an ice jam located near Town line Road. Six houses were experiencing flooding and several residents needed to be evacuated. The flooding was occurring on Christiansen road...which is located just north of the rock river and south of the Rock County Airport...and Bass Creek Road which is just south of the river.

Two feet of water was reported around these houses. Rock County officials continue to closely monitor the situation. If the river levels go up slightly down river closer to Beloit...then more houses will be affected by flood waters. However the worst of the river flooding is expected to remain farther north....from Town Line Road to just south of Janesville.

No flooding has been reported in Janesville at this time...however flood prone locations along the Rock River up river to downtown Janesville should be closely monitor the river and be prepared to take action and protect property if flooding occurs.

Ice Jams are very difficult to predict. Therefore...it is unknown at this time how high the river will rise at any one location.

A Flood warning means that flooding is coming or has been reported. The river may rise quickly...but flash flooding is not expected. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately and be alert for ice jams and quick water rises along any portion of the Rock River.
