For the rest of the work week, our temperatures will likely be staying well below average. The main reason is a large area of high pressure sitting over the Rockies that has been keeping us in a northwesterly flow. With cold Canadian air continuing to rush into the Stateline, we are going to be heading below zero by Thursday morning. The good news is that all this changes by this weekend. This large dome of high pressure is set to slide to the eastern seaboard. On the back side of this high pressure we will receive what is known as a "return flow". This is in reference to the air circulating around the high and over the much warmer waters of the Gulf of Mexico. This weekend we should be able to crack the 30s for the first time in a long time. I would not call the low 30s warm for this time of year, but compared to what we've been dealing with lately, it might feel like a mini-heatwave! -ADAM
