Updated Snowfall Forecast for Thursday

Noon UPDATE: I just measured 0.75" of snow at the WREX studios. The snow has already cleared through Jo Daviess, Carroll, and Whiteside Counties where most reports there have been between 1.5" and 3". The snow should end in the Rockford area around 2pm.

Right now there is a large batch of snow sitting just west of the Mississippi River. With the majority of the snow sitting behind the cold front, I've pushed the heaviest snowfall totals farther to the west. The majority of our viewing area should see about an inch or two, with a couple spots witnessing amounts fluffing up to three inches. If your travels take you into the Chicagoland area, don't expect to run into more than an inch of snow. The snow should continue into the early afternoon hours, but it should end by the time you clock out for work this afternoon.

The good news is that the air above the surface is very cold. Because of that this snow will be lightweight and fairly easy to shovel. Another Alberta Clipper plows into the area tomorrow, which could bring us an additional inch or two of fresh powder. -ADAM
