Update 4am = The back edge of the snow is just about to move through the region. The snow that is still over the area is very light, and not much more is expected to accumulate. Road conditions were still pretty poor when I came into work. The worst areas will be the side streets and rural roadways this morning. The main arteries will continue to improve as the morning commute wears on.Update 10:30pm = The reports that I have seen across the viewing area have ranged between 3 and 5 inches. I have left the original snowfall forecast up. As you can see from around Interstate 88 and points northward, 6 inches of snow looks likely. A few spots may fluff up slightly more, but the intensity of this storm system is starting to wane. With snowplows running all night, your morning commute should not be all that bad. I will be back in the weather center before 4am with another update if it is warranted... ADAM
The graphic to the left illustrates what you can expect to see on the ground when this storm system is all said and done. It should be completely through the region before sunrise Tuesday. This is NOT a forecast of additional snowfall. If you haven't touched a shovel yet, this is what you will end up shoveling tomorrow. The majority of the viewing area will fall in the 3 to 6 inch range. You can see a thin band in southern Wisconsin where the powder could fluff up to 8 inches. With the atmosphere so cold the snow doesn't compact as much. Remember that 10 to 1 ratio? 10 inches of snow to 1 inch of liquid? The ratio with this snowmaker is going to be closer to 20 to 1! Most observations sites have reported less than a tenth of an inch of liquid precipitation, but most areas already have a couple of inches on the ground. Please reply to this post and report your snowfall totals! -ADAM

shoveled half hour ago in Durand and had easy 4 inches and everything has already covered back up. Looks like we might exceed 6.
Beloit (Rock Co.) WI

MY WEATHER BUG WENT OFF AND IT SAID THE NWS HAS ISSUED A SNOW ADVISORY FOR DEKALB AND LEE COUNTIES UNTIL 6AM TUESDAY, IS THIS TRUE, ARE WE EXPECTED TOGET MPORE THAN 3 INCHES?
That is definitely true. How much do you have on the ground there Anthony?
ADAM, IM NOT SURE BUT IT WAS MY GUESS ABOUT 3 INCHES OR SO!
5 inches on the nose here in loves park as of 9:45 p.m. ill report the final total to eric tomorrow since i have to work at 7.
Im guessing well have an updated forecast at 10. There is not a GRAIN of salt on any roads, so be careful
I noticed that. I was on the road about 630 or 7 and I saw maybe 2 plows and that was it. Just unreal. It is like rockford doesnt care. And it is not snowing that hard so they can keep up.
I was out around 9 30 after work, and they were still horrible.
I hope I get a snow day.
I just have to ask... did Eric's night off have anything to do with the ski excursion yesterday? lol j/k
exactly 10 inches in Durand this morning at 4:30 and still snowing good.
We have 8 inches on our deck here in Roscoe, just a 1/4 mile West of 251.
Thanks for all of your reports! That was definitely one heck of a snow event. The Chicago Rockford International Airport had a final snow report of 8.7"! Snowfalls of that magnitude only happen once or twice a year around these parts...
