The graphic to the left shows the month by month breakdown of night's with below zero low temperatures thus far this winter. I showed it on the noon news last Friday, but had to update it to add one more to the February column before I used it this morning. The running total is up to 14 days with two more weeks to go in the month of February. In comparison, last winter we witnessed a total of 14 days with sub-zero mercury readings. Unfortunately, it appears as though we will add two or even three more days to the February column before this work week is in the books. Keep the long underwear nearby and the hot chocolate flowing! -ADAM

Frigid Tally... Still Running

No, no, no, no -- I can't take these below temps any longer! Make them go away -- far, far away! Please!
How much longer until Spring comes knockin' on our door?!?!?! (sigh)
I keep going into work looking at the extended models for a sign of Spring, and continue to find very little sign of a prolonged thaw.
The calendar says 31 days until Spring comes a knockin'!
But ... I believe it is only 2 weeks until we change back to Daylight Savings Time again. Maybe that will make it feel closer to Spring anyway?
Honestly, I think if we get one more big snow between now and spring, I think it will take til may or june to melt it all away. hehehe. I am still hoping we break the record, but honestly I think it is getting too late in the season for that. Like the person said at the NWS yesterday morning on the forecast discussion, if this la nina pattern continues into spring and summer, we are going to have one heck of a severe weather season.
