Temperatures to stay on the cool side into March

February started on a fairly mild (but snowy) note. Since then we've seen bout after bout of Arctic air. The first came on the 10th when the temperature only made it to 9 degrees. After some struggles to rebound we saw our second major cold front this past Sunday. So, where do we go from here?

13News is forecasting a pretty decent warm up for the next four days. In fact there's a chance we'll surpass 40 degrees for only the second time this month next Monday. Don't get used to that though. All signs point toward another week-long stretch of below average temperatures starting next Tuesday and lasting into the first full week of March.

Having said that, if we can somehow manage to melt off all of the snow on the ground we'll have a much better chance of seeing more widespread 40s and 50s in the next two weeks. If that's not enough optimism for you, just think spring...it begins exactly a month from today! -ERIC

Just curious, did we ever get close to that -10 last night/this morning? When I left for work at 630 it was already +6. Maybe we had some clouds move in... :)

Hello everyone. I haven't posted a blog comment in forever, but I think now would be a great time to comment on the upcoming Spotter Training offered by the NWS on March 22. I have been to several of these training sessions and it would be nice to see some new faces there. There are several regular people now on this blog submitting comments and it's more than likely that you all share some sort of passion for weather! The information for this and other events is posted on the homepage for our local NWS.
