5:20 pm Not snowing yet in Beloit, but NWS has issued a snow advisory for Rock & Walworth Counties in WI with accumulations of 2-5 expected overnight.

Bleh.

It is snowing very hard here in loves park, but yet the NWS said little or no accumulation. The NWS knows nothing.

Well tony, despite the fact that Loves Park and Beloit are - what - maybe 12 miles apart(?), we are under the jurisdiction of two different NWS offices. You get your watches, warnings and advisories from the Chicago NWS office and I get mine from the Milwaukee NWS office.

I have definitely noticed that the 2 NWS offices often have quite different takes on the same weather situation.

Well I just rechecked the NWS forecast here, and it is saying 3-5now. I know I am looking out my window and it looks like fog right now.

Actually now it is snowing so hard here that I can barely see across our street. It is just absolutely dumping right now.

Yeah, its snowing pretty hard here now too ... I'd guess a rate of about .75 inches per hour or more.

If you look at the radar (my favorite free radar is the Weather Underground radar site) you can see that it will probably keep this up for a bit.

wow! where did this come from! we have about four inches here at i39/bypass 20.

the main roads in rockford are 100% snow covered and did not see any bare pavement the entire trip home from work. it is snowing so hard you can see 1/4 mile or less.

i drove over bypass 20 on alpine and noticed two cars in the ditch on opposite sides of the road going west, about 100 feet from each other, with their hazards on. I noticed bypass 20 is 100% snow covered too.

BE CAREFUL driving home after your parties!

I just hope some parts of the city havent lost power, I was just out moving my car out of the street and saw a transformer flash against the low clouds around here.

Well we had a brief lull of just light snow, but it is coming down bad again here.
