Warm & Waterproof Green Attire

Our weather pattern is going to continue to be mostly dry through this upcoming weekend. Just be sure that if you are headed outdoors Saturday or Sunday for some of the holiday's festivities, make sure your green clothes are warm.

A different scenario is shaping up though by the next work week. Your green attire might need to be waterproof for Monday. St. Patrick's Day will start off on a dry note, but it won't be finishing up that way. Latest model guidance wants to begin the widespread rain during the late afternoon and evening hours on Monday. This storm system is going to have an abundant amount of moisture to work with, which means our rainfall totals could become fairly impressive. With a saturated ground from recent snowmelt, our risk for flooding will rise significantly. Areas to watch will be flood prone locations along the Pecatonica, Rock, and Kishwaukee Rivers.

This rainmaker will be so strong that the effects will be felt all across the midsection of the country. A large severe weather outbreak is quite possible. I must say it likely will NOT be for us, but portions of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana could be under the gun. The graphic to the right is the Day 5 probability map for severe weather on St. Patrick's Day. This was issued by the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma. It is going to take some serious luck of the Irish to keep the weather dry around here Monday through Wednesday. -ADAM

So I was driving today and saw the ground under where the snow had melted. It was really weird... there was this brownish-green blade-like plant everywhere. I asked somebody, and apparently it's this stuff called "grass"

I hear ya man. My backyard that used to have "grass" on it actually looks more like a pond with so much melted snow just sitting in place. Quite the muddy situation.

Our snow is melting quite nicely. It is about almost all melted in our backyard except near our fence and in a sinkhole that we have. Our front yard is just about all snow free except a couple small piles from the shoveling. Hard to believe that just a month ago, we were up to our chest in snow.
