Last week at this time we were basking in 70° temperatures. This week we're stuck in the 30s with rain. What a difference, right? Yesterday we were looking at long-term trends and they really don't look favorable for any more 70s (let alone 60s or even 50s)! Our average high today is 48°. We'll stay below that tomorrow (so we'll shade that day blue). A 50° high is possible on Thursday (so we'll go red). After that there's basically no chance of seeing warm weather. Repeated shots of cold air will invade the midwest...perhaps enough to get high temperatures only a degree above freezing for Tuesday of next week.
There is a chance we'll warm up just in time for Thanksgiving so will go near average for turkey day itself with a small chance of a warm up by month's end.
Of course long-term forecasting is difficult. These are just some of the trends we're looking at now. It will be very interesting to see in a few days/weeks if this forecast holds any water. -ES
