National Weatherperson's Day

Today is National Weatherperson's Day which commemorates the birth of John Jeffries in 1745. He was a Boston physician who was one of the first Americans to take daily weather observations. He started doing this in 1774. Nine years later the hot air balloon was invented. A year after its invention (in 1784), John Jeffries went up in a hot air balloon over London and took the first upper air observation.

Thanks to all those that have sent gift baskets and complimentary emails. We have so much junk food now in the weather center that it is scary. If we eat all of this stuff we might have to install elastic into our suit pants... -ADAM
