First Spoonful of Winter

I would say that next week will be the first taste of winter, but it is coming in a major dosage. Therefore, I'll reference next week's blast of cold air as a spoonful of winter. High temperatures this weekend will run 5 to 10 degrees above average, while by next Tuesday (graphic to the left) highs will likely drop 10 to 15 degrees below average. Thus far this fall we have survived with just jackets, but I would advise you to dig out your stocking hat and gloves because you will want them during the next work week.

In addition to battling intensely cold air, we will have to deal with blustery conditions. Wind speeds could reach as high as 35 mph from time to time. Most of the leaves on the trees across the region have gone past their peak color. With the aid of a couple of days with gusty winds, I would expect most of the leaves to be on the ground by this time next week. -ADAM

What about snow??

The trees in my yard are still green; I really wish the leaves would hurry up and fall while my cheapskate town is still collecting them for free. They only collect them at curbside for the first 2 weeks in November; after that you either have to pay to take them to the landfill yourself or else pile them up and sit there looking at them all winter while they make your grass die underneath the pile.

Would you be able to tell me why Daylight Saving Time ends later? Didn't realize it was later until I heard it, and it doesn't matter, cause it's gonna happen anyway, but could you tell me why it's later. Will that mess up something down the road?

I think DST is ending later because congress supposedly thinks it would save energy plus they wanted trick or treaters to have more daylight. I thought it was dumb. I wonder what people think of rockford using millions to renevate the metrocentre instead of getting a tornado siren for rockford. Sorry if that was completely off topic.

Got out those insulated hats and gloves this weekend.

I am not ready for this.

Wasn't it just a couple of weekends ago when it was 80+ degrees outside?

What happened to Fall?

I'm still keeping the snowflakes out of the forecast. The chance is so low that it isn't worth getting the public in a frenzy over the first opportunity of snow. On the outside chance that some flurries do materialize, it will not amount to anything and should not hamper road conditions.

I think there could be a few flakes or sprinkles eaaaarrly Thursday morning. I put them in more for the reason that I couldn't remember what the little icons looked like. LOL
