Rainfall takes the Bypass

Other than the scattered thunderstorms south of town on Saturday night, most backyards in the stateline remain fairly parched early this week. Rainfall was pretty widespread in downstate Illinois with the drought-stricken areas of the Southeastern United States drop-free on Monday. Lake Lanier, the main reservoir for the Atlanta metro area is nearing critical levels. If the lake drops another foot and a half, it will be a record-low level. Our NBC affiliate WXIA-TV has a special drought section on their website. Click here for more information.
