Fog Blankets the Stateline

Update 9pm - As expected the Dense Fog (yellow) and Freezing Fog (blue) Advisories have been extended until 6am Thursday.

Update 8:30pm - Walworth County has been included in the freezing fog advisory. Be especially careful driving on bridges and overpasses. With so much moisture hugging the ground, some of it could easily freeze on the roadways causing a few slick spots.

Update 7pm - The freezing fog advisory now includes the counties of Green & Rock in southern Wisconsin. When these advisories expire, I fully expect them to be reissued for the remainder of the night because the fog is not going to dissipate significantly by 9pm.

Update 3:30pm - Both fog advisories have been extended until 9pm this evening. Zero visibility is currently being reported in Monroe, Freeport, Dixon, Rochelle, and DeKalb. Quarter mile visibility is being observed in Galena and Rockford. Remember to keep your low beams on as your high beams will do you no good in dense fog. -ADAM

The National Weather Service out of Chicago has issued a FREEZING FOG ADVISORY until 2 p.m. for Rockford, Oregon, Dixon, and Dekalb. Visibilities will be reduced to near zero or a quarter of a mile in many locations. Motorists are urged to drive with caution. Please slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination. Along with limited visibility, the fog could also leave moisture on the roadways and sidewalks creating slick spots and making conditions quite slippery for cars and pedestrians.

The National Weather Service out of the Quad Cities issued a DENSE FOG ADVISORY until 3 this afternoon for Galena, Freeport, Sterling, and Mount Carroll. I received a call from weather watcher Jeff who lives in Polo and says it's hard to see a quarter mile in front of his house. So do be careful as you head out today.

Come on up north, guys :-) It's been in and out of thick fog on the county roads. Really thick --you can't see other cars lights till they're quite close.

I just got back from walmart on northridge and the fog does get kind of bad, but not too bad. I came out of the store and we had some freezing drizzle or light snow and the sun was out. I dont know if that was from the trees or the fog.

Well as far as the storm this weekend, based on what I just read, it sounds like most of the northern illinois may be missing the main snow. Sounds like east central illinois is more in line and we are less likely to get anything. I hope that changes during the next model runs.
