Snow Advisory in effect for Whiteside County
The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a Snow Advisory for Whiteside County for Saturday. I don't believe any other counties will be put into an advisory...but we need to watch the amounts projected for Southern Lee and DeKalb Counties. I released the 13News Snowfall Foreacst a little early as many people are about to leave for the weekend. 1-3 inches of snow is likely in the Rockford metro with higher 3-4 inch amounts possible south of I-88. Note: Central Illinois will be ground zero for this snow event with some areas seeing more than 10 inches! Interstate 39 will get progressively worse as you travel south of Rockford tomorrow.

It's 5:12 pm and I have almost 3 inches on my driveway. When will the snow end and how much will we have when it stops??
Isn't DeKalb under a snow advisory? It's been snowing hard all day.
what a surprise, huh? all this snow? who knew?! about 3 inches on our driveway. I bet the path of the storm went a different direction than predicted.
Actually from I have read, I think the storm is still going the same path, but I read with the advisory that an upper level disturbance is causing our snow. I just hope it sticks around long enough for xmas with the warmup that is coming.
It's been coming down very hard all day in east Rockford. Drifting developed around 6 tonight. I hope it stops soon.
Looking ahead, how is the system developing for Thursday?
Where's the WREX updated weather coverage?
navy mom- for some reason I've been clicking on refresh, but the blog was still only showing this post as most recent. It wasn't until I clicked on the "13 news weather blog: rockford's news leader" at the top of this comment page, that I was able to see 2 new updated posts. Maybe you're experiencing the same problem.
Always hold down the CTRL button while you push refresh. This will ensure you have the most recent postings. Thanks! -ERIC
