The storm system impacting Omaha, Nebraska this morning will be heading our way later today. A SNOW ADVISORY will be in effect tonight for all of northern Illinois. As of 8am, this does not include southern Wisconsin as the Milwaukee National Weather Service office believes the snowfall totals may not be great enough there to issue an advisory.
I am expecting the snow to start along the Mississippi River around 3pm and the snow to reach the Rockford area around 6pm. The roadways will turn slick around dinner time. The most intense snow will be falling between 6pm and midnight. Light snow and flurries will continue until 6am, but the skies will be dry by the time we see sunrise on Friday.
Snowfall totals tonight will range between 1 and 3 inches across the area with slightly higher totals to the south. I am expecting this snow storm to be a little less potent than the previous one for a couple of reasons. First, the duration of this event won't be quite as long as this is going to be a pretty quick moving system. Second, the orientation and track of this storm is different than Tuesday night's path. The previous snowmaker moved from Fargo, ND towards Indianapolis, IN. Tonight's snowmaker will move from Omaha, NE into Michigan. This orientation will cause our snow to water ratios to be slightly lower and the length of the batch of snow to be shorter. -ADAM

On the radar the snow is just getting into freeport... Is all of that actually getting to the ground?
