Preliminary Report
Eric has been at a field meeting with the National Weather Service this morning retracing the path of destruction left by yesterday's tornado. The strength of a tornado is assessed by how much damage it causes. This is because it is far too dangerous to attempt to measure the intensity of a live tornado. Early reports indicate widespread EF-2 damage with a few isolated areas of EF-3 damage. The EF-2 rating would estimate the wind speed around yesterday's tornado to range between 111 and 135 mph. No doubt about it, we lucked out with this one mostly affecting rural areas. Eric will have a full report of his findings this afternoon. -ADAM
