South winds have kicked in, the sun is shining, and the thermometer is responding. We're in the lower to middle 50s area-wide as I type this.Winds today will be fairly strong, generally in the 15-25 mph range with some higher gusts. I'm seeing a few locations nearby with sustained winds of 30 mph and gusts of 35+. As a result, part of the viewing area is under a Wind Advisory today.
If you're going to be stuck in a car at some point today, be mindful of the crosswinds on east-west roadways. Hopefully the amount of time you'll be in a car or indoors will be limited. Many towns will finally hit 70° today - time to get out, stretch the legs on a jog, or just breathe in some of that spring air. I think I'll be reading a book out on my porch this afternoon!
I did some statistical analysis (okay, just addition and division...) on our temperatures for the past 10 years (1998-2007). I wanted to see how many times we've hit 60°, 70°, and 80° by now, on average. We should have hit 60° about nine times, 70° five times, and 80° once. So far this year, we've only hit 60° four times and will finally hit 70° for the first time today.
