Most sites in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin received an inch of rain on Tuesday. This will cause rises on area rivers during the next few days. Minor flooding was observed on the Rock River from Janesville through Rockton. All river levels will rise another 6 inches to a foot bringing some low-lying farm land and roadways under water. I just took a glance at the most recent NAM computer model which points to an ominous scenario for Thursday-Friday. It brings a major slug of 3"+ rains to North-Central Illinois which would prompt flash flood problems, let alone more river flooding. If you live near one of the four major rivers in the area you may want to be proactive now by preparing for significant flooding. You can monitor river levels and forecasts by utilizing the National Weather Service's AHPS interface.
