Sing us a song, you're the weatherman!

Help us come up with the best karaoke song ever! We've started it. You have to finish it!

Here we go: "Sing us a song you're the weatherman! Sing us a song tonight...well we're all in the mood for a thunderstorm...you've got us feelin' all right!" Heck, if it's good enough, we may have to make an appearance somewhere to perform!

Okay, with apologies to Billy Joel, you asked for it.

---
Its nine oclock on a Saturday
The regulars all are at home
The new guy's writing a Blog post
About some kind of high pressure dome

He says, what can I say on the air tonight?
The atmosphere's calm and tranquil
But I gotta write something to send out right quick
And I've got some air time to fill.

La la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

Chorus:
Sing us a song, you're the weatherman
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a thunderstorm
And you've got us feelin alright

Now somebody must be watching tonight
Though I really couldn't tell ya who
We could always try running a contest
Though that might embarrass us too
Justin says gee this is killing me.
As the smile ran away from his face
Well I'm sure some big station would nab me
If I could get out of this place

Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

Now Eric is off on vacation
And Adam is playing some sport
And Smitka is trying to keep a straight face
While reading a stupid report.

And I hope y'all paid royalties to do this
Those copyright lawyers are tough
If the RIAA gets wind of it
They'll go after your hide for this stuff

Chorus

Its a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
Cause he knows that its me they've been comin' to see
To forget about life for a while
Well the radar, it looks like a video game
And the battery's dead on the remote
And the viewers demand only warm days with sun
And insist it be put to a vote.

Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

Chorus

The Thunder Rolls

Three in the morning,
Not a soul in sight,
The road is dark like
On a moonlit winter's night.

Rain shows on the radar,
There's a storm moving in.
Painter's heading back from somewhere
That he should have been.

And the thunder rolls.
And the thunder rolls.

Every light in the station is burning
In a station across town.
Marcia's pacing by the teleprompter
In her flannel gown.

Asking for a miracle,
Hoping she's not right.
Praying it's the weather
That's kept Painter out all night.

And the thunder rolls.
And the thunder rolls.

CHORUS
The thunder rolls, and the lightning strikes.
Another station light grows cold, on a stormy night.
As the storm rolls on, out of control.
Deep in the radar, the thunder rolls.

Eric's waiting by the station window
When Painter pulls into the drive.
He rushes out to tell him that he
Thankful he's alive.

With all the wind and rain
A strange new wind blows,
And the lightning flashes in there eyes,
And he knows that he knows.

That the thunder rolls.
That the thunder rolls.

CHORUS

Ok, I know it's dumb lol

Odd that listening to an "All 80s" show would inspire you to rewrite a song from the early 70s.

Terry: Always a comedian in the group! ;D

I am a product of the 1970s but seem to remember all of the 80s/early 90s music. Maybe it's a sign of old age when you turn on 97ZOK and don't understand the music!

Anyway, Pianoman is a classic! Someday I will post my homemade lyrics for the Beach Boys' Kokomo. Hint: I renamed it "Winnebago"

Have a great day. thanks for posting!

I haven't listened to ZOK or current Top 40 in about 2 years. I have on Bob FM in the car.
