Stuck in a Rut

Our weather pattern has been pretty consistent lately. Unfortunately, our thermometers have been consistently on the wrong end of the spectrum. A stubborn area of low pressure has been hung up over the Great Lakes region for the past couple of days. With the counterclockwise rotation around that low, we have been stuck with a northwesterly flow in the atmosphere. A couple of light showers are possible in the next two days, but no major storm systems will be able to brew in this cold air regime. The ridge that is giving the western half of the country record high temperatures will start breaking down by the end of the work week. That is when we will turn this cool weather pattern around. Luckily, it looks like the change of fortune occurs just before the 3 day holiday weekend! -ADAM
