I'm going to use a cop-out card today, since I'm running on an hour and a half of sleep. Anyway, on this date in 1936, Rockford endured the hottest day ever recorded in the city. The high temperature was 112°! Even worse, it was just one day among many in July 1936 with a high above 100°. You can read more about that stretch of searing heat by clicking here.
