Big Turnaround

The month of June started in a wet way, but finished in a completely different fashion. We all remember the flooding problems when we received almost 5.5" of liquid in the first 15 days of the month. The second half of the month was much drier with the Rockford airport recording less than an inch of rain.

Just like Eric mentioned, a lot of backyards are getting crunchy and changing colors from the lush green to more of a yellowish-brown. As I gaze out into the next 7 days, I don't see much change in this drier than normal weather pattern. Our two opportunities for a free lawn watering should occur on Wednesday and then again by next Monday. I am predicting that the majority of the area will pick up less than an inch of rain over the first seven days of July. Tomorrow will start off tranquil, but by the middle of the afternoon Eric & Justin should have a few thunderstorms to start tracking. We are still under a slight risk for severe weather with the main threats being small hail and gusty winds. -ADAM

I have noticed it has been drier lately, but I will bet the people in machesney park and all other areas affected by the flooding are more than happy to see this dry weather. I have noticed martin park is starting to recede pretty good, but still a lot of water yet.
