Every Inch Affected
It is not too often that we see a state as oddly shaped as Florida have every inch of land hit hard by a tropical storm. Until this morning the extreme northwestern edge of Florida had been spared by Fay, but she is still churning out some strong thunderstorms. Fay is no longer a tropical storm, nor a tropical depression, but the area of low pressure is still spinning up some tornadoes. A tornado watch has been running all morning long for portions of Alabama, Georgia, and Florida and it will continue into the afternoon. What is leftover of Fay will slowly move northeastward into the Ohio Valley region and should have little affect on the Stateline.
The graphic to the left is an image of the amount of rainfall that has been received in Florida over the past 7 days. Several spots have recorded over 20 inches of rain including near Melbourne, Cape Canaveral, and Tallahassee. To put that into perspective, they piled up the same amount of rain we've received in the past 4 months in a mere 7 days! -ADAM
