The times, they are a-changin'

Each successive shot of cool, dry, Canadian air that visits the Midwest is a reminder that summer is drawing to a close and fall is walking up to the door, moments away from knocking. And if you don't believe me, check out what's happening to our north. No, your eyes don't deceive you. Those are frost and freeze advisories in the Minnesota Arrowhead and Northwoods of Wisconsin. The Gehrts family vacation spot has a forecast low of 35° tonight... brrr!

Fortunately, we won't be quite that cold. But if you leave your windows open overnight (which I highly recommend), you'll want to throw on an extra blanket. Many of us will be in the lower 50s by morning, with some places probably dipping down into the upper 40s. The afternoon will be pleasantly mild in the middle 70s with gobs of sunshine. Any way you slice it, we're in store for a magnificent Monday.

The cool fetch off Lake Michigan will go away by Wednesday, when we start to increase both the temperatures and the humidity levels.

What a truly beautiful morning commute this morning!

I have an hour commute just as the sun is coming up (this time of year anyway). The temperature, the sky, the low humidity, the sun slithering up over the horizon ... these are the kinds of upper Midwest mornings that make all our bad weather worth enduring.

Next time we're having tornados or blizzards or ice storms or floods or whatever else plagues us on the Bad Weather Days, and somebody asks, "So why do you still live in that part of the country anyway?" ... somebody please shake me and remind me of this morning.

Days like this make it all worth while.

I like the cooler weather, but I'm a little bummed about all the green tomatoes on my vines. My tomatoes would like a little warm weather :-)
