Ike's Two Options for Us
The forecast for the landfall of Ike is starting to get nailed down to somewhere along the Texas coastline. The models diverge greatly for where it takes the remnants of hurricane Ike. The GFS model (left graphic) takes the remnants into northern Mexico, which would give us great weather for Sunday and Monday. The European model (right graphic) takes the area of low pressure into the Ozarks by Sunday afternoon. If the second scenario holds true, we are going to be in for some tropical downpours just like what Gustav gave us. There is no middle ground between these solutions. Either we are in for great weather for Sunday & Monday, or it is going to be absolutely crummy. If you have plans during this timeframe, you better keep checking the forecast. The picture should become much more clear by the time Ike makes landfall on Friday.
If you didn't get a chance to see the graphic I made on-air this morning, or would just like to hear my audio analysis, check out "Web Weather 9-09" on our main weather page. Over the past month, I have gotten into the habit of producing full length (1:30-2:30 minutes) web weather clips. They are updated every morning by 9am. If you aren't in the reading mood sometime, but still want your weather fix, head over there and check out the clip(s) with the "AM" in the title. -ADAM
