Old Man Winter will be huffing and puffing today. Colder air will be pushed into the Rockford area today on strong northwest winds that could gust up to 30 mph at times. This will cause wind chill readings to hover in the teens.
The reason for the strong wind is what I like to call the "squeeze play." Today we will be wedged between a passing storm system and an area of high pressure. The cold airmass to the north will try to pass between these two systems. When you pinch a water hose, the water stream becomes faster. This will happen today when a large airmass will push through a smaller volume (the Stateline). -ADAM
