With the warmer weather we are going to have this week, the snowpack will quickly melt away. Today alone we have already melted at least 4 to 5 inches! With temperatures expected to be at or above 40 degrees for the rest of the week, the snow should be almost, if not completely, melted by Friday. This will cause some concerns for local rivers and streams. The frigid temperatures that we've had for the past two and a half weeks has allowed the ground to freeze. So as the snow melts, the ground won't be able to soak any of it up, and it will become runoff, likely causing minor flooding.
Now even with temperatures above freezing this week, it won't be long enough to allow the ground to thaw. So with the possibility of heavy rains this weekend, the majority of it will flow into local rivers and streams only aiding in the flooding. - CANDY
