Mother Nature's Alarm Clock
Mother Nature might be giving you a wake up call in the middle of the night tonight. Thunderstorms are likely to roll into the Stateline after midnight tonight. According to the Storm Prediction Center we stand at a slight risk of severe weather, while a moderate risk sits to the northwest of us. I believe the main severe weather threat will be over Minnesota today, since that is where the activity will bubble up during the peak heating hours of the day (2pm - 8pm). By the time the storms reach us, they will have lost the energy from daytime heating. Therefore, we won't have a huge chance at severe weather, but gusty winds still cannot be ruled out. The main concern will be the potential for heavy rain between 1am and 9am Tuesday morning.
Some of the data that is pouring in is pushing the heaviest amounts of precipitation into southern Wisconsin. Also, two different model runs this morning our outputting widely different precipitation chances. One model (GFS MOS) puts Rockford's rain chance at a paltry 9%, while another one (NAM MOS) puts the chance at 55%. That 55% doesn't sound too high, but for a probability of precipitation 18 hours out that would mean rain is fairly likely. Regardless, with the models varying so much, I am not completely sold on the flooding potential for tonight. Eric will be in shortly to take a glance at this situation as it begins to unfold this afternoon. -ADAM

I want to know how come it's OK to say "Mother Nature" did something, but no one will dare say that God did something. If we were to be politically correct, we shouldn't be mentioning the name of any diety...
