SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for all of northwestern Illinois. The only county in our Illinois viewing area that is not included in this watch is McHenry County. This watch will run until 1pm this afternoon.
As of 8:30am, your average garden variety showers are stretching across the Stateline. You can expect some light to moderate rainfall in the next 2 to 3 hours. The severe weather threat is the line of thunderstorms that has formed into a bow echo out towards Waterloo, Iowa. This line of storms will enter the region around lunchtime. It will pack with it damaging winds of up to 60 mph, frequent lightning strikes, and heavy rainfall. This line of storms is moving ESE at this time at a rate of approximately 35 mph. -ADAM

Good Morning,
Great another severe thumderstorm in the making. Well personally I love thunderstorms, I just wish I could be at home to watch out the window instead of at work without windows.
Will the bow echo directly hit the city of rockford, or just south?
I still expect the segment of strong thunderstorm activity to pass through Rockford. The initial bow echo from Waterloo is about to pass through Galena. It is losing some of its ferocity and intensity. Due to this weakening the wind gusts may not be high enough for a warning to be issued, as witnessed by the non-warning for Jo Daviess County.

It's ummm looking a lil greenish off to the west of me in Winnebago. Not a very pretty color either..
i am just wondering, they have numbers after the watches, like ours is severe thunderstorm watch number 598, does the number mean thats how many watches have been issued this year, or is there some other significance to that.
